THE NEW SPIRIT OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT
Code of Conduct with the purpose of protecting children and adolescents against sexual exploitation related to tourism.
In 2003 Costa Rica started with the process of this code carried out by
Fundacion PANIAMOR in cooperation with professionals from the tourism
sector.
The idea of this code of conduct has emerged in other countries as
well, where tourism has its origin and its destination. Its aim is to
inbound the tourism industry in the combat of sexual exploitation of
children and adolescents related to tourism.
Today this code has been converted into the international organization
"The Child Protector Code" with its permanent sit in New York.
In Costa Rica the code is promoted within the whole nation with special
emphasis in the regions mainly attended by tourists. Since 2008 the
implementation of the code has become a strategic action belonging to
the National Plan against the sexual exploitation of children and
adolescents related to tourism.
