FUNDACION PANIAMOR STRESSES ON THE ROLE OF PRINT MEDIA

  • Main subject: The overexposure of children and adolescents in the media proves collective ignorance.
  • Journalists play down the importance of coverage of half of the population of the Latin-America.
Taking in account the Latin-American reality in the media, the subject of children and adolescents is not properly scheduled.

This statement was the starting point of the workshop Journalism responsible for childhood and adolescence which took place on the 8th of October in the Colegio de Periodistas.

Journalism, Childhood and Adolescence – who is in charge to deal with the issue? The expert Pilar Lozano Riveros, a Columbian journalist, did not only refer to the rights of children and adolescents but to the coverage’s weaknesses and good moves of the subject within print journalism.

The workshop dynamic covers both the Latin-American statistics as well as the need to create a public and private impact on the media, the journalists, the correspondents, and graduates about a specific legal knowledge platform.

The activity expects to create a healthy debate on the approach of national and international news in its social function to provide information on this subject.

The union of the Colegio de Periodistas and the Universidad de San Judas Tadeo has invited Fundación Paniamor to engage, being the leading NGO in matter of fulfilling children’s and adolescents human rights.

In this convocation which was a combination of forum and workshop, there were present journalism students, freelance consultants and the regional media as well as members of the Junta Directiva.
