- The National Patronage of Infancy (Patronato
Nacional de la Infancia, PANI) organizes an international activity on
the National and Local Integral Protection Systems of Underage
Persons.
- Fundación Paniamor has been assigned as the
technical secretary of this meeting, being responsible for its logistic
and technical organization.
- In the merge of the 20th Anniversary of the
Convention on Children’s Rights, the PANI as guiding institution in
matters of Costa Rica's childhood and adolescence, assumed the task of
organizing a meeting of Latin-American countries on National Integral
Protection Systems of Childhood and Adolescence. The meeting took place
in San Jose, Costa Rica on the 19th and 20th November 2009, its opening
ceremony has been preformed on the 18th of November in the auditorium
of Casa Presidencial.
The initiative was realized with financial
support from the Latin-American Fund for Development of Infancy,
similar as in the context of the 17th Chamber of Latin-American Heads
of State and Government held in Chile in November 2007.
The
general meeting’s target is to contribute to the developmen of the
National Integral Protection Systems of Childhood and Adolescence,
boosting the exchange of experiences and horizontal cooperation among
the participating countries. The design of the activity plans to hold a
parallel meeting with the participation of minors from each country,
who reflect their experiences derived from their participation in such
systems, as they operate in their respective contexts.
As
result of this effort innovative inputs are estimated to be obtained
for the confirmation, coordination and articulation of National
Integral Protection Systems of Childhood and Adolescence in its
different stages, starting with the valuable supports provided by the
participants, all Latin-American political key-actors with experience
and direct interest on this matter.
